St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church was founded in 1901 by dedicated and faithful immigrants who desired a place of worship of their own rite and language. They began with a small wooden structure but quickly outgrew it and in 1910 dedicated the beautiful church we have today. Now, as stewards of this faith legacy, we must preserve and nurture what has been passed down to us.
Any milestone in life is a good time to reflect, to thank God for blessings and to look to the future. We are hopeful in a spiritual renewal taking place, and that this parish can be vibrant for decades to come. But we need your help! We must be disciples of Christ and preach the good news to others, inviting them to share in the joy we feel every Sunday in church. Our goal is to have 25 new families or individuals register as parishioners before the end of 2026! There are many who have a direct family connection to this church that we invite to come back and enjoy the fruits of their predecessor's labor! And there are many today simply seeking God - we invite them to come and find Him here!
Central to this 125th Jubilee of our parish is a physical renovation of our church building. Many projects will take place, both on the exterior and interior. There will be necessary repairs to the roof, domes, masonry, and other areas. On the inside there will be both necessary fixes and additional beautification including repainting, new flooring, electrical work, restoration of our historic iconostasis and icons, addition of new icons and liturgical wares. All donations are welcome! For those who are able, partial and full sponsorships of items and projects in memory of loved ones is also encouraged!
Soon you'll be able to read Fr. Vasyl Colopelnic's letter below, inviting us to partake in this spiritual and physical renewal of our parish and church. You can find more details on estimated costs, specific projects and items, and how to get involved further.
In October of 2026 we will joyously mark this great milestone with a Divine Liturgy presided over by his Excellency, Bishop Paul Chomnycky of Stamford, as well as many clergy, guests and all of you dear parishioners. A wonderful gala celebration will take place that evening at the Lodge in Skaneatles, NY. Information on how to purchase tickets coming soon!
